Week 72: FAREWELL!!... until next year.

December 26, 2016
WOW-za... what a week.

So, last Monday we were supposed to travel up to Kellogg, ID and ride the longest and largest gondola in the entire lands, but there were apparently 50 mph winds at the top, so they shut it down.. but no one informed us until we were already there (like a 40 minute drive), so we ended up just going to antique stores and trying to find the most unusual thing that we could.. small towns are really good for that. It ended up not being such a bad day. Sometimes P-days are just crazy. Good thing there's six other days of the week.. :)

We were able to do a lot of service this week which was a blessing because apparently being independent means that you can't accept help from missionaries who just seriously want to genuinely help people... I guess their hearts were softened because they let us help them for a change. YAY for CHRISTMAS! :) We helped an investigator wrap Christmas gifts for her family, and another couple of people as well. What a blessing it was! It just is the best feeling in the world to seek to lighten another's load. Life is good.

One amazing spiritual experience that we had this week was meeting Velma. When the Elders were here, they taught her, but since we have come, she has had a really hurt back, and so she hasn't been able to meet with us at all. Well, finally, this week she said we could come over. We were able to go one day, and we talked with her about coming to Church and about her experience with learning in the past, and the member that came with us, was just so strong and helped Velma so much. We were told that Velma was super quiet and likely would just listen to us, but the Lord's hands are in this work, and she was able to open up to us and it was such a blessing. She even let us come back and help her with a sewing project because she can't see anymore. We are excited to see her continue to progress. Sister Nickle invited her to come on a Church Tour (she's one inspired missionary), and Velma got super excited about that. We will be going this week.

Then, without a doubt, the best time this week was yesterday... Christmas! We were able to have a wonderful Christmas program at Church and the Spirit was so strong. A lot of people were out of town, but it was definitely a powerful hour. Then, Skyping with my family was the best in all the lands, and we had a Christmas party last night with our Zone of missionaries. I am so grateful that our Savior, my Savior, Jesus Christ, came to this earth as a little baby, grew in wisdom and favor with God and man, and was able to live such a perfect life. Without His birth into this world, we would have no hope. What an incredible message that gets to be carried to this world that is starving for the truth, but just don't know where to find it. Through prayer, scripture study, church attendance, acting and opening our hearts, we will be led to the truth. I testify this Gospel is it. He is it.

Well, I love you all. I hope that your Christmas was full of love, joy, peace, family, happiness, and most importantly, Him whose birth we celebrated. May you prayerfully determine what you can do this year to become more like Him and go forward with faith and hope that you can accomplish those things through His divine help. Have a wonderful week and a Happy New Year.
