Week 64: Happy Halloween and an Unexpected Suprise

October 31, 2016
Well, this week was absolutely wonderful!! On Tuesday, I said goodbye to amazing Nine Mile Falls (I miss that beautiful place and those amazing people so much!) .. Greenbluff is starting to grow on me, though! It's fun to live with another set of Sisters again. It makes me feel like I'm back at BYU, and we have a lot of fun! :)  We've made many efforts this week to grow and to learn the area and to find new people to teach. It has been difficult, but a really good experience, nonetheless! We spent 5 hours knocking doors in the rain one day this week (I may or may not have been prepared for that.. okay, I wasn't, BUT lesson learned, haha.. at least I didn't get sick, so TENDER MERCY!), and that was just a testament to me of the necessity of members and missionaries working together. It is exciting to be able to serve here in Greenbluff right now. I am growing fonder and fonder of it each and every day. Heavenly Father really does know what His children need and where they need to be to fulfill His purposes and work.

Something great that happened this week was just getting to meet new people. It's easy to do when you're new to an area (haha), but it definitely helped me to grow a stronger testimony of the value of Charity and how we pray for it each and every day! It's so cool when you come to a new area, know no one, and then the moment you meet someone, just have an instantaneous love for them. Wow! Christ's power is amazing. We pray for Charity at 9am each morning as a mission. We start our companion study, all 170 something of us, praying for it, so it was such a blessing this week to just be able to feel that over and over again as a tangible witness to me that our Savior lives, He loves us, and this work is powerful!
The unexpected surprise aforementioned (that was a big word - I've been reading "Jesus the Christ" (a super good book), and the vocabulary is rubbing off on me, haha) happened just yesterday. So, here in Greenbluff, there is a nursing home, Regency. We go there sometimes just to visit some of the members there, and they actually have a sacrament meeting that we attend in addition to our own ward each Sunday. So, yesterday was my first time going, obviously, and everyone LOVES to make the new missionary in the ward do things. Well, we are sitting there - Sister Nickle and I, the member we live with, 2 Priests in the ward who came to administer the Sacrament, a High Priest, and like 7 of the Regency residents. Well, the one who was conducting was just filling in for another Brother who is gone this week, and he gets up and is like, "Sister Griffith, would you be willing to pick a hymn and come up and sing it to us?" LIKE A LEGITIMATE SOLO A CAPELLA IN FRONT OF THE CONGREGATION OF ELDERLY PEOPLE AND ABSOLUTELY ZERO NOTICE.... So, of course, I did what any missionary hopefully would do and didn't turn down the poor man. I got up there, sang "I Stand All Amazed" without any accompaniment, and that was a day... Hopefully they don't start to think that can be a normal occurrence, but, it was a good experience nonetheless, haha. :)

Well, I hope that you all stay safe this crazy holiday and that you find a way to think about Christ during all of the hustle and bustle. Have the best week and know that you are loved! :)

-Us four sisters on our farm :)
-A SUMMER ROAD!? hahaha...well, good thing we don't have a 4 WD and winter is fast approaching..
-When Sister Nickle and I got packages on the SAME day! :)
-A super creepy decorated house. No thank you to trick or treating that one...
