Week 70: A Winter Wonderful-land and A Beautiful Baptism

December 12, 2016
WELL HELLO THERE AGAIN!!! ... It's weird, normally I feel like I've emailed just yesterday, but not this time.. this week has gone by really slowly, but that has been a blessing as well! I just love being a missionary, so for time to feel like it's slowing down is definitely a gift! :)
Can you believe that next week it is already Christmas!? I feel like December just started... but, I am pretty excited for Christmas, so it's okay if it comes sooner! How has everyone been doing with the #LIGHTtheWORLD initiative? I hope it's been wonderful! It sure has been a blessing to be able to spend time each day consciously trying to light another's life. When I think about this beautiful Christmas season and the love of our Savior and the Light of His life, I am reminded of a quote I used in some school project that I did in 5th grade or something long ago like that... I don't even remember who said it, but it goes something like, "You cannot hold a torch to light another's path without lighting your own." Isn't that beautiful? Truly as we serve others, that light returns our way. .. A different light than what comes when we are focused on ourselves. A pure light. A light that lifts and blesses and refines. The Light of our Savior. I hope that you've all been able to feel that as you've been in the service of others. If you haven't done anything yet, there's still time. Start now and finish strong. Everything's still at mormon.org. :)

Things in Lakeland are going wonderfully! The members are wonderful and so supportive of everything, and they have a sincere desire to want to do missionary work! They were there to support Celsey as she entered in the waters of baptism as well. That was such a blessing.. she even invited one of her non-member school teachers and she came.. it was so wonderful. Her adopted father is a convert himself - he was only baptized about a year and a half ago, and so when he confirmed her that was the first time he has done that.. I believe it's also the first time he's ever given a priesthood blessing as well.. it was such a powerful thing to be able to witness.

It has been such a blessing to be able to witness people having a change of heart and developing some real intent! We have an investigator who has been learning about the Church for about 3 years now. She has come to church many times, but has never really prayed to know or read The Book of Mormon at all (the only way to know if this is the true Church and Gospel on the earth today)..... well.. she has been being prepared over the last couple of months without missionaries, because she texted us after a lesson thanking us for coming, came to church for all 3 hours and brought her own scriptures that she said she has started to read... it's been amazing! Those are all things she hasn't done before. Miracles are happening, and it's such a blessing to be able to live and learn through experiencing the Tender Mercies from our Savior's hand.
Well, that's about all I have time for today.. I love you all immensely and hope that you have a wonderful week. "Remember who you are and who God expects you to become." ~President Thomas S Monson
LOVE YOU ALL! :) Stay warm and happy. I will try and do the same. :) <3
